Numerical simulation of underwater supercavitating projectile penetrating structure equivalent of torpedo

  Numerical simulation of supercavitating projectile penetrating structure equivalent of toepedo using nonlinear finite element program LS-DYNA is proposed.The rules of projectile trajectory, ballistic limit, crevasse shape and sizes are obtained when projectile penetrates target plate with different impact angle and attack angle.Simulation shows that Underwate Supercavitating Projectile has a relatively large remaining velocity after penetrating into the torpedo shell, which can continue to cause internal damage to the torpedo.Existence of impact angle and angle of attack can cause ballistic deflection and stress increase, thereby projectile penetration ability will decline.However, oblique penetration is more conductive to the tragetdamage for the increase of the damage size.
