Well Logging Interpretation and Evaluation of Marine Shale Reservoirs
Due to the specific characteristics of high to over-mature marine shale gas reservoirs, the foreign logging evaluation technique of shale gas reservoirs can not be completely adapted. The traditional evaluation method of total organic carbon content (TOC), △lgR, is applicable for the low to middle mature source rock reservoirs. In this paper, according to the characteristics of marine shale gas reservoirs, a nonlinear method of calculating TOC, which is suitable for high to over-mature marine shale gas reservoirs, is developed. In addition, a new model for the evaluation of adsorbed gas content under the high pressure condition has been explored based on the theory of double layer adsorption, which is different from the traditional Langmuir model widely used abroad. The study results have been widely used in the exploration and development of marine shale gas in Sichuan Basin. The coincidence rate of logging interpretation is over 90% according to the gas testing results, which brings huge economic and social benefits for the shale gas exploration and driving shale gas development in the demonstration areas. In the similar domestic areas, the study results have a good prospect of popularization and application.
