Spatial Variation of Cd in the Water-Level-Fluctuating Zone of Mixi Valley based on GIS mapping Techniques
The geostatistical method was used for predicting the distribution of the content of Cd(cadmium) and tracing the hotspots in water-level-fluctuating zone of Mixi Valley. The hotspots of Cd which indicated higher risk than other areas were identified to be mainly distributed in the water-level-fluctuating zone of soils near the areas of frequent human activities, intensive shipping traffic and slow water flow along the Mixi Valley. The mean contents of Cd in soils are more than 20 times greater than the reference values. The anthropogenic factors were the main sources for Cd concentration in soils of the study area, which obviously affect the distribution of Cd.
