PREPARATION OF CELLULOSE ESTER WITH HIGHER FATTY ACID AND ITS CHARACTERIZATION
The aim of this work is to synthesize cellulose esters with long carbon-chain fatty acids of C8, C12 and C16 in homogeneous media. Effects of reaction temperature, reaction time, ratios of cellulose and fatty acids, dosage of catalyst on the degree of substitution (DS) were investigated, and the suitable synthesis conditions were determined based on the orthogonal tests. The significance sequence of the influence factors was as follows, reaction temperature, ratio of cellulose and fatty acid, reaction time, and the amount of catalyst. The substitution degree of long chain fatty acid cellulose esters obtained under the optimal conditions was 2.3~2.5, and its structure was characterized with FT-IR.
