Comparison of Numerical Passive Scalar Diffusion Based on CIP Method with Analytical Solution
With the development of the economy and the increase of the population, environmental problems draw more and more attention. The advection-diffusion equation describes the physical transportation of the passive pollutants in the environment in which the treatment of the advection term is important and difficult_ A three-dimensional numerical model based on cubic interpolated pseudo-particle (CIP) method is developed for the solution of the advection-diffusion equation. CIP method is used for the advection terms, which is assumed to be a good method to treat these terms to minimize the numerical diffusion. The comparison of numerical results for advection-diffusion equation based on CIP method with analytical solution for advection-diffusion problems from one dimension to tbree-dimension has been performed, which shows the accuracy of the CIP method. A unique method to get the analytical solution for advection-diffusion process in unsteady non-uniform flow is also discussed .
