PERATORS TOOL TO RUN MORE ENERGY EFFICIENT TO JUST GOOD ENOUGH QUALITY
The operators are a key resource in order to find new ways to increase energy efficiency of the refining process. With respect to make sure that the fiber quality is just good enough new approaches to quality control is needed. In this study an on-line InovoCell fiber analyzer has been installed after a primary refiner stage. Process data and fiber quality data have been displayed to the operators on-line in new designed graphical user interfaces as compared to traditional time trending. The experience is that the awareness of the operators could be increased. On-line calculation of energy efficiency shows that there are variations. If the operators know the present level of energy efficiency it is more probable that immediate actions can be taken to find out why it starts to deviate.
