Sanding force of wood and medium density fiber board
This study analyzed the sanding force of wood and medium density fiberboard (MDF) in the sanding process using signal acquisition and signal analysis techniques. Effects of wood grain, wood species and sanding parameters on the sanding force and normal force were also investigated.Results show that wood grain has a marked effect on the sanding force and normal force.The sanding force reaches the biggest when sanding parallels to wood grain and the smallest when it is vertical to wood grain. Significant differences exist in the real-time curve between wood and MDF. The effects of sanding thickness and feed speed on sanding force and normal force present basically a linear change, and a quadratic relationship is found between feed speed and sanding force as well as normal force of MDF.
