A Hierarchy-based Dynamic Key Management for Clustered Wireless Sensor Network
Hierarchical cluster-based architecture is a common type which has some extraordinary performance on energy-saving and special applications. However, due to the characteristics of WSNs, such as restricted resources and operation in a hostile environment, WSNs are subjected to numerous threats and attacks. In this paper, we present a hierarchy-based dynamic key management method, a splay tree-based rekey management, to efficiently enhance the network security in LEACH-like protocol and greatly reduce the large number of messages exchanged for key renewals. Security analyses show that our proposed mechanism can efficiently protect the network against attacks of eavesdropping and captured nodes compromise.
