REACTIVE ARMOR-SIMPLE MODELING
A new and simple model for calculating the residual penetration of a jet after interacting with a reactive armor cassette, based on the old flux model 1, is presented and its predictions are compared to the available experimental results. This model enables us to calculate the effect of the various physical parameters, like the orientation and the plate velocities and thickness, on the stopping efficiency of shaped charge jets. Experimental results consisted of two types of shaped charges, a small point initiated charge and a large peripherally initiated one. The cassettes where of two types too, with 3mm and 1mm steel plates and variable amount of explosives. Comparison of the model predictions and the experimental results shows very good correlations
