Investigation on Ultrasound-assisted Electro-spark Deposition Processing
A novel ultrasound-assisted electro-spark deposition (UESD) technology was proposed by introducing ultrasound in electro-spark deposition (ESD) process. The relationship of main process parameters, such as discharge voltage, pulse frequency and specific deposition time, with coating thickness on 3Cr2NiMo die steel were experimentally studied and compared in UESD and ESD process, respectively. The effects of ultrasound on bonding strength and surface quality of the coating were also analysed. It shows that the bonding mechanism of UESD is a metallurgical bonding and ultrasound plays a positive role in UESD process by refining grains although it could decrease the thickness of deposition.
