Effects of Brassinosteroids on Photosynthetic Capacity and Chlorophyll Fluorescence in Aluminum-Stressed Soybean
The effects of brassinosteroids on Al tolerance and photosynthetic characteristics of soybean were investigated. The results showed that brassinosteroids enhanced soybean tolerance to Al, as indicated by increased root elongation and decreased Al and callose concentration in the root tips, and the optimal effect was observed at a concentration of 0. 1 mg · L-1. The results also indicated that brassinosteroids applied at this concentration ameliorated the Al-decreased leaf area, net photosynthetic rate, maximal PSII efficiency (Fv/Fm), actual PSII efficiency (ΦPSII); and effectual PSII (Fv/Fm), but had no effect on photochemical quenching coefficient (qP).
