ESTIMATION OF GARDNER-RUSSO MODEL PARAMETERS FOR SOIL WATER RETENTION CURVES USING ONE-DIMENSIONAL INFILTRATION DATA
The accuracy of water flow and solute transport predictions obtained depends on the reliability and accuracy of the soil hydraulic properties. The main soil hydraulic properties are the water retention curve and hydraulic conductivity function. Base on the rule of one-dimensional soil water infiltration, the parameters of Gardner-Russo model for soil retention curves were obtained. The relationships of cumulative infiltration, infiltration rate, the wetting front and the infiltration time were logged. Based on the relationship, a simple method to estimated soil hydraulic properties was developed. Numerical simulations of water flow were used to evaluate to the analytical method. The results based upon the numerical data indicate the method of parameters estimation was provided with upper precision.
