Effects of Water on the Rheological Properties of Oil-based MR Fluids
This paper discusses the effects of water on the rheological properties of oil-based magnetorheological(MR)fluids. The dependence of off-state viscosity,field-induced shear stress and the response time of MR fluids on the volume fraction of water were characterized by an advanced rheometric expansion system with a magnetic field supplier. The anti-sedimentation was analyzed. The results indicate that water has significant effects on the rheological properties and stability of MR fluids.
