Pixel-based Change Detection Using the SPOT-5 Satellite Images
As time is gone, a national land is being changed by various factors such as developments, disasters and environmental changes. The change detection study which analyzes the change areas and change information can be applied for the development, planning and preservation of a national land. A high resolution satellite that supplies highly accurate image data in a short period is especially much used to study the change detection. In this study, we used two SPOT5 satellite images obtained in different period and compared the DN value of these images directly. A normalization process which makes radiometric conditions of two images same is valuable so that we can compare these images in the same condition. We experimented two methods, one is a RRN algorithm, to transform a subject image into a reference image linearly, and the other is histogram matching, to match the cumulative histogram of two test images. These experimental studies are leading to a result that the normalization makes an accuracy of change detection better than before, and the histogram matching could be the best method in the result of overall statistics and histogram.
