Mascot Robot System by integrating Eye Robot and Speech Recognition using RT Middleware and its Casual Information Recommendation

A mascot robot system is developed for the casual communication between human beings and robots.The system is an information retrieval and recommendation system for dealing with human speech in home environments.It consists of speech recognition modules,an information recommendation engine that recommends information to human taking account of the situation,and five eye robots that present mentality expression.These components are added to a network and integrated by RT (Robot Technology) Middleware.The oral experiments for casual communication show 85.6% of the average of speech recognition rate and ±5 deg of the precision error (except in the case of 90 deg).The proposed mascot robot system provides informative supports to humans through casual communication in a home environment.
