A Novel Micro-Pump Based on Osmosis Effect
This paper presents a novel micro-pump based on osmosis effect. It features simple structure, power- free, inexpensive, pulse-free and stable flow-rates during long working periods. The micro-pump is composed of two reserviors with a semipermeable membrane sandwiched in between. Factors affecting the flow rate of the micropump were primarily studied. With the 3.5cm<2> effective area of membrane, the flow-rates can be obtained from 40-530nL/min, with precisions of 6%-9%.
