Monitoring and Assessment on the Eutrophication in Taihu Lake Using Remote Sense Methodology

An approach to monitor the eutrophication based on the remote sensing methodologies was presented in Taihu Lake of China. Based on the Landsat TM/ETM digital imagines acquired in 1991, 2001 and 2004, authors monitored and assessed the status of eutrophication in Taihu Lake. In addition, samples on the eutrophication were collected and used as the reference data to validate its suitability to monitor the entrophication in the Taihu Lake. Using correlations between the ground-truth data and combinations of spectral bands from the field treatments, we establish a statistic modal to analyze eutrophication in Taihu Lake. Meanwhile, we then also analyses the environmental issues on water quality, aquatic vegetation change. Based on the study, we put forward some suggestions to deal with the eutrophication in Taihu Lake.
