The Plant Toyota-PSA in Kolin (Czech Republic) or The Reverse Destiny of a City

The dynamic growth of motor industry in Europe in recent 10 years has an obviously spatial pattern. The Eastern countries show an attractive potential for new plants of this massive industry. The paper discusses this new spatial development elaborating methodology analysis about spatial anchorage of massive product firms. We aim to demonstrate the processes of emerging plant through the example of the factory Toyota Peugeot Citroen Automobiles (TPCA) opened in 2005 at Kolin, located at 60 kilometers of the Czech capital Prague. We propose a precise example here to understand, on an individual scale, the concrete step of an investor wishing to be established in Central Europe and its implications on the development of a city. The economic topicality carries a keen interest with regard t~ Toyota and Peugeot SA, which carries out a common establishment in Central Europe, who proves to be the largest investment of the grecnfield type ever carried out in Czech Republic. The width of this example reflects the new attractivity of Central Europe territories, particularly for the motor industry. Many questions tap this step. Which are the true determinants strategies of the both constructors in Central Europe? Is the local fabric in which the company fits affected and/or reinforced by this establishment? Lastly, which concrete prospects for urban development can one awaits this step (roads, services, local companies, employment)?
