Hierarchical zeolite SrA: synthesis with organosilane surfactant for separation of hydrogen and methane in coke oven gas
A hierarchical zeolite SrA sorbent for pressure swing adsorption (PSA) separation of hydrogen and methane in coke oven gas was synthesized with organosilane surfactant and subsequently ion exchanged by Sr 2+ . The prepared zeolites were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), nitrogen adsorption/desorption and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and a micro/mesoporous structure was displayed. The equilibrium adsorbed amount of CH4 and the equilibrium selectivity of CH4/H2 on the prepared zeolite SrA were measured and compared with those of commercial 5A zeolite. The results show that the prepared hierarchical zeolite SrA has higher adsorption capacity of CH4 and separation factor of CH4/H2 than commercial 5A zeolite for PSA separation of hydrogen and methane in coke oven gas.
