Inclusion Modification with Calcium Treatment to Steel SPHD for CSP Continuous Casting
The cold-rolled steel strip is produced with the hot rolled plate of SPHD steel produced by compact strip production (CSP) in Handan Steel. Its very important for modification B-type inclusions to D-type inclusions by the technology of calcium treatment to assure trouble-free casting of funnel form nozzle of CSP and the surface quality of cold-rolled steel strip. In this paper the thermodynamic calculation of calcium treatment for steel grade SPHD has been done to guide the industry operation in Handan Steel. Through electrolytic extraction of inclusions from steel samples of SPHD and analysis the inclusion morphology at different conditions of calcium treatment, the optimal conditions of calcium treatment to modify B-type inclusions to D-type inclusions completely has been presented in the production under Handan Steel.
