Pre-service English Language Teacher Education in China: BA/TEFL Curriculum Studies
The presentation focuses on BA/TEFL curriculum studies concerning the main-land Chinas English language teacher education at tertiary level. Such studies are of fundamental importance as university teacher education programme outcomes relate to actual needs of schools in general education. Well prepared teachers joining the teaching force has a positive impact on the successful implementation of the National English Curriculum Standards, officially comes in effect nationwide in 2005. Therefore, pre- service teacher professional development should be placed in a no less important position than in- service teacher training.
