Limiting Current Density of Electrodialysis for Concentrating Seawater
Electrodialyzer should be operated under the limiting current density for the long run, so the limiting current density is an important operation parameter of the electrodialyzer. The limiting current densities under different conditions were measured, and the influences of concentrations of electrolyte in solution, flow rates and temperatures on the limiting current density were investigated. The results show the limiting current density augments from 33.33 mA.(cm)-2 to 36.73 mA.(cm)-2 with increasing of temperature from 18 ℃ to 28 ℃; it augments from 31.97 mA.(cm)-2 to 40.14 mA.(cm)-2 with increasing of the electrolyte concentration from 18.8 mA.(cm)-2 to 61.0 ms.(cm)-1; it augments from 32.65 mA.(cm)-2 to 42.18 mA.(cm)-2 with the increasing of flow rate from 60 L.h-1 to 170 L.h-1.
