Power Conversion and the New Business Model

For OEMs whose core competency does not focus on power converters, resources must be diverted from their core competency activities (where they add value) to address their power converter needs. Thus, they are not maximizing the amount of their resources focused on the core competency that differentiates them in the market. This dilution of effort means they will not be able to exploit the maximum value from their core competency. For OEMs to have a significant, sustainable competitive advantage, their core competency must yield a long term advantage. This paper discusses how OEMs can maximize their competitive advantage (added value content derived from their core competency) by using the PowerModule power converters and focusing on their respective core competency.
