EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON HEAT LOSS FROM CAVITY RECEIVER FOR SOLAR POWER TOWER

Experimental data are presented which describe convective heat transfer from cavity receiver. Experiments are conducted in a wind tunnel cross section of which is 2 × 2 m at various conditions such as four different cavity types, receiver surface temperature of 300, 400, 500℃, wind speed from about 2 to 8 m/s, and four different tilt angles. The heat losses are measured by differencing the power supply in order to make the receiver surface temperature constant at various experimental conditions. From the results, the effect of natural convection on total heat losses can be obtained. In addition, characteristics of heat loss are presented.
