FIBER BRAGG GRATING SENSOR TECHNOLOGIES FOR THE MEASUREMENT OF DYNAMIC STRUCTURAL RESPONSES
For lightweight and flexible aerospace structures, it is important to measure the structural vibration and deformation induced by various loads. In this paper, fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensor systems to measure these structural responses are introduced. And this paper investigates dynamic application of the FBG sensor systems.First, we performed the adaptive vibration control test of a composite wing model with a surface-bonded FBG sensor and piezoelectric actuators. Second, we estimated structural deformation using FBG sensor array when we cannot directly measure the deformation. The results show that FBG sensor systems are suitable for the measurement of dynamic deformation of the structures and can be used for various active vibration control applications.
