EFFECT OF LIQUID DESICCANTS PROPERTIES ON DEHUMIDIFICATION CYCLES
Desiccant-based dehumidification is an alternative way to vapor compression dehumidification in air conditioning. It has several advantages including not using Freon refrigerants and driven by low grade energy such as waste heat and solar energy. In a desiccant dehumidification cycle, the properties of desiccant determine the cycle range, operating temperatures of the absorption and regeneration processes, which affect the efficiency and the operation conditions of the cycle greatly. Very little studies were carried out discussing desiccants properties’ affection on desiccant cooling cycles on a uniform basis. In the following paper, a simplified dehumidification cycle model is set up. Effect of desiccants properties on the cycle is discussed. Based on the discussion, a visualized method for selecting desiccant is established.
