Field Test of Blast Densification of Loose Sand against Liquefaction
Explosive Compaction (EC) is known as economical and speedy method to densify sandy ground. To examine the applicability of EC at the reclaimed loose sand as remedial measures against soil liquefaction, field tests were performed. Compaction effects were examined by means of penetration tests and measurements of ground settlement and pore-water pressure. Those measurements indicate that the ground was densified and liquefaction strength increased.
