Study on the plate tapering effect of composite single lap joints
Adhesive bonding is an promising technology for composite joints, study the effect of adherent tapering plays an important role in joint design. In this paper, the embedded FBG sensors and electric strain gages were used to investigate the bending moment in lap plate with different tape angles, and the FEM model was also applied to study the stress distributions in adhesive. The results shows that the adherent tapering could descries the bending moment, and increase the carrying abilities; and the stress in adhesive also decrease, especially the peel stress. The peak value of peel stress decreases 33% and 20% respectively in adhesive midline and interface with the tapering end of 30 degree.
