Development of Functional Nano-fibers Using Electro-spinning Technology
Electro-spinning is a new technology used to produce nano-fibers and it has become a new hot spot in the nanotechnology research field. This paper describes briefly the basic principle of electro-spinning technology used for producing nano-fibers and the electro-spinning devices designed by researchers in recent years, such as single nozzle spinning setup, co-axial electro-spinning setup etc. With the development of nanotechnology, electro-spun nano-fibers are used more widely. Therefore, this paper also focuses on the introduction of electro-spun nano-fiber applications in various fields, such as the filter materials, sensors, composite materials, drug delivery etc.. Finally, this paper points out some problems existed currently together with the future research directions and new trends of electro-spinning.
