A Simple Review of Using Coconut Fiber as Reinforcement in Composite

  Green material is increasingly being studied because of its advantages.Using natural fiber in reinforced composite can reduce not only the dependency on conventional concrete-making material but also environmental impact.The selection of coconut fiber is in conjunction with the concept of sustainability and the sources are abundant in tropical regions.The main scope of this paper describes the possible usage of coconut fiber in fibrous composite to replace partly normal materials.This present paper summarizes the current published studies, reviews characterization of coconut fiber, mechanical properties of composites with different lengths and contents of fiber and analyses difficulties in using coconut fiber as reinforcement.Furthermore, thermal conductivity of the composites was also reviewed to spread awareness about using coconut fiber in production precast members like slab, cell wall or sandwich panel.
