Study on Powder and 3D Printing Properties of Vacuum Atomized High-speed Steel
Powder metallurgy of high-speed steel has many advantages such as non component segregation, fine grain, fine carbide and heat treatment, uniform hardness, good toughness and good wear resistance. The A30 high-speed steel prepared by vacuum gas atomization have been characterized, the influence of different atomization pressure on powder morphology, sphericity, particle size have been also analyzed,in addition scanning electron microscopy(SEM)observation utilized to observe the surface of the powder and the sphericity of powder, the component analysis and the size of the as-prepared samples were analyzed by fluorescence spectrometer and Malvin laser particle size analyzer.77%of the particle size distribution ranges from 15 to 45μm.The theoretical limit pressure of the vacuum atomization furnace is 6 MPa,however the actual limit atomization pressure is 4.5 MPa.The results show that under 4.5 MPa atomization pressure, the prepared sample shows high sphericity, smooth surface and few satellite globules. The powder with 15 to 45μm particle size was selected for 3D printing experiment at 600 mm·s-1 scanning rate. The result shows that the fluidity and printing performance of powder was excellent.Subsequently the mechanical tensile properties of the printing samples were tested and the tensile strength of the 3D printed samples can reach to 1208 Mpa.
