Effect of Al2O3 Content on Sinter Resistance of YSZ Thermal Barrier Coatings
Alumina is an oxide that is often present in YSZ ceramics. Its presence has a definite influence on the high-temperature properties of YSZ ceramics, especially the anti-sintering properties. For YSZ thermal barrier coatings, high temperature sintering is one of the main reasons to reduce its thermal insulation performance and intensify its failure.11 kinds of YSZ coatings containing different contents of Al2O3 were designed and prepared by the APS process. The coatings were heat-treated at 1400℃ for 100h.The micro-structure of the as-sprayed coatings and the heat-treated coatings was compared, and the porosity was measured. The thermal expansion property and micro Vickers hardness was measured. The results showed that with the increase of Al2O3 content in the coatings, the porosity of the coatings reduced and the thermal expansion contraction at high-temperature was intensified, and the sintering resistance of the coating was reduced.
