Effect of Fast Neutron Irradiation on Sintered NdFeB Magnets
The effects of fast neutron irradiation with fluence of 1.6±0.16×1013n/cm2 on the magnetic flux of sintered Nd-Fe-B magnet have been investigated.Nd-Fe-B magnets with coercivity Hcj 1076 kA/m(N52)and 1653 kA/m(45SH)were used as samples, whose permeance coefficient Pc was 0.5.The magnetic flux decreased remarkably for N52 magnet, magnetic flux loss up to 8.0-9.5%,while the flux loss of 45SH was below 0.1%.After remagnetization of irradiated samples, the magnetic flux almost recovered to the original strength. The phase structure of the magnet was not transformed after the irradiation.Increase the coercivity led to enhancement of the resistance to radiation-induced damage. And the irradiation mechanism is discussed at the end of the paper.
