Effects of Heat Treatment on the Mechanical and Magnetic Properties of Sintered Nd-Fe-B Permanent Magnets
Sintered Nd-Fe-B magnets are widely used in many fields due to their excellent property-price ratio and outstanding magnetic properties. However, their undesired mechanical properties limit their wider development. In this manuscript, sintered Nd–Fe–B magnets with various temperatures(420℃、440℃、460℃、480℃、500℃ and 520℃)of heat treatment are prepared by the conventional powder metallurgy technique. The mechanical and magnetic properties of sintered magnets after different heat treatment are investigated. The results showed that different heat treatment could influence the mechanical properties, and slightly change the magnetic properties of sintered Nd-Fe-B magnets.480℃ is a significant heat treat temperature where the mechanical and magnetic properties turn the changing trend.Furthermore, the relations between the mechanical and magnetic properties and relevant microstructures have been analyzed based on the experimental fact.
