Electrolytic Copper Powder with Low Fraction,Specific Surface Area and Oxygen Content for Special Applications

Copper dendritic powder with particle size less than 63 μm,as raw material for high-tech industries,is required to provide low specific surface area of under 2500 cm2/g and low bulk density of less than 0.75 g/cm3.However,an inverse relationship between these indicators is well known. At the same time,it is necessary to eliminate oxidation of the high-dispersed powder. To accomplish the task, the product was obtained as per the multivariate flowchart involving electrolysis in a three-component electrolyte, flushing, stabilization and mixing fractions to obtain final data and their compliance with specified criteria. In the course of tests, the combined effect of current density and electrolyte composition on final properties of the powder was evaluated. As a result of this work, dendritic copper powder with the fraction less than 63 μm,specific surface area 1900-2500 cm2/g,bulk density 0.65-0.74 g/cm3 and oxygen content lower than 0.15%was obtained.Unlike analogues produced by mixing powders of different grades, this product is single-component.
