Preparation of Bonded Iron-based Powder and the Compacting Behavior
In this paper,Fe-Ni-Mo-Cu-C premixed alloy powder is used as the research object.Based on the theory of polymer blends, the comprehensive utilization of the mechanisms of antifriction and bonding, new multi-functional binders was designed.Iron based premixed powder with uniform distribution of alloying elements was obtained using spray binder treatment technology. The adhesion effect is characterized by particle size distribution,SEM morphology of mixes and so on.And the relationship between components of binders and the compact density is mainly investigated. The results show that the particle size distribution of binder-treated powder is close to that of raw iron powder, the fine alloy powder can adhere to the surface of the iron particle evenly and fill in its pits and the adhesion effect of binder treatment is much better than that of conventional mixing method. It is also found that the main helpful components of low shear stress and high shear stress are polyethylene wax and microcrystalline wax respectively.By adjusting the ratio of them, the compact density can reach 7.22 g/cm3 when the polyethylene wax content is 6%at 600 MPa.
