Effect of Resin Additives on Strength of Iron Powder Compacts and Iamage during Green Machining
In iron-based sintered parts,in order to reduce the cost by extending the tool life,so-called green machining,in which the green compacts are machined before sintering, has attracted attention in recent years. However, the iron powder compact before sintering is brittle and easily damaged during machining. In this study, the strength of the green compact with the conventional lubricant or resin have been investigated. The resin addition improved the strength of the green compact than the conventional lubricant. The damage during machining of green compact with the resin additive was suppressed due to strengthening of the particle bonding force.
