Sintering Parameters on Mechanical and Physical Properties of Hydroxyapatite(HA)through Ceramic Injection Moulding(CIM)
Ceramic Injection moulding(CIM)is a process of mass-producing complex-shaped with high accuracy of products.Production of good products is extremely challenging if the sintering parameters are not optimized. In this work, injection moulding was employed to inject hydroxyapatite parts. The injected samples were debound in multi-stages and sintered at temperature ranged of 1100℃ to 1300℃ with a holding time of 4 hours in argon atmosphere. The mechanical properties of sintered HA parts were investigated. Results showed that sintering temperatures at 1100℃ to 1300℃ resulted no decomposition of HA.In addition,it was found that the mechanical and physical properties of sintered HA were significantly improved with increasing sintering temperature and holding time.Relative density more than 95.6%with approximately 17.3%linear shrinkage was obtained when sintered at 1300℃ for 4 hours.A maximum flexural strength and hardness were 21.19 MPa and 8.02 GPa,respectively.
