Metal Injection Molding(MIM)in the Laptop Shaft Parts Processing Applications
Laptop shaft uses a series of parts,which have the light weight and special,complex shape.The traditional processing methods are stamping,forging and machining,etc.There are plenty of disadvantages,such as low production rates,high cost and easily damaged mould.Whats more,the products burrs are too big to remove,and the edges are not clear.Not least the dimensional precision of products are not easy to be guaranteed.MIM(metal injection molding)can solve the above problems,and meet the requirements of usage.When processed with MIM,a series of parts used in laptop shaft,such as concave-convex wheel,shaft,retainer plate,bearing frame,gear seat and reed,possess good comprehensive mechanical performance with a little secondary processing.It meets the requirements of the products size,appearance and performance well.Extrusion die life is more than 300,000 times,so that it can ensure the dimensional precision of products.On the one hand,the edges of products are clear.On the other hand,most products have no burrs.The rest having small burrs can remove at the time of green part increases greatly.Not only it improve efficiency and lower costs,but also it can improve the appearance of products.MIM is a Near-Net-Shape processing methods which process new,small and heteromorphic metal parts.Its a result of combining Plastic Injection Molding and traditional compression-molding powder metallurgy.The products of MIM can use many kinds of raw materials like 316L,304L,17-4PH,420,440 in stainless steel; FE2NI,FE4NI,FE8NI,Iron and nickel soft magnetic in Ni-Fe alloy and cemented carbide.Their features are high efficiency and saving the raw materials.This paper introduces and discusses that principle of MIM and its application to processed components of laptop shaft.The article relates to develop and test the performance of involved raw materials like FE2NI,FE4NI,FE8NI,17-4PH.It also tests the technique and uses it in production widely.
