The Effect of Elevated Temperature on Mechanical Properties of Al/B4C Neutron Absorber Material
Al/B4C neutron absorber materials were fabricated by powder metallurgy.It subjected to long term elevated temperature testing at 400℃ in an air atmosphere for 8000 hours and short term elevated temperature testing at 482℃ in inert atmosphere for 48 hours,respectively.The thickness,density,mechanical properties,B4C composition,boron-10 content,boron-10 areal density and microstructure were studied.The results show that after the short term and long term elevated temperature,all the coupons have no crack,pore,bubble.There was a slightly increase in tensile strength and elongation.There have no change of density,B4C composition,boron-10 content,boron-10 areal density and microstructure.
