Particle Shape Modification and Related Properties of Iron Powder
In this paper,we study a method to achieve particle shape modification and its effects on related property of powder.In our research,a kind of water-atomized iron powder is ground in attritor for various durations and revolution speeds.Experimental results show that irregular shaped iron particles can be processed into nearly spherical particles,and their sharp corners are rounded off,surface finish and degree of sphericity get improved.Consequently,the process further increases apparent density of iron powder from 3.10 g/cm3 to 4.2 g/cm3,visibly decreases its flow time from 20.8 s/50 g to 16.2 s/50 g.
