The Interfacial Strength of MoSi2 Coatings on Mo and W Coatings on OFCu
Using pack cementation method, molybdenum(Mo)silicide coating was prepared on the Mo alloy. The Chemical composition was analyzed by Energy Dispersive Spectrometer(EDS)and X-ray diffraction(XRD),which evinced that the coating is MoSi2.The adhesive bonding method was used to evaluate the adhesion of MoSi2 coating and Mo substrate. It was found that there was no spalling or damage occurred, which indicated that the interfacial strength of MoSi2 coating was better than that interfaces made by cyclewelding method.Combining the chemical vapor deposition(CVD)and hot isostatic pressing(HIP)methods,a tungsten(W)coating was deposited on the oxygen-free copper(OFCu)substrate. The microstructure of the W coating and the interface between the W coating and the Cu substrate were investigated. It was found that both the composition and thickness were uniform. The brazing method was used to evaluate the adhesion of Cu-W interface. It was found that there was no spalling or damage occurred. The interfacial strength of W coating was better than that interfaces made by brazing methods.
