Effect of Ru Addition Amount on Microsructure and Properties of WC-Co Hardalloys
A series of WC-Co hard-alloys with different amounts of Ru were prepared by conditional PM route.The microstructural and mechanical properties of the as-prepared samples were investigated.The results show that the addition of Ru has a significant effect on the WC-Co hard-alloys.The Rockwell hardness and transverse rupture strength are enhanced respectively.Moreover,the thermal properties,including thermal conductivity and thermal diffusion coefficient are also changed by the addition of Ru.The metallographs of the samples after sintering show that the WC grain size tends to homogenize with the increasing of the Ru doping content.Moreover,observation by scanning electron microscopy on the microstructure indicated that the fracture mechanism of the as-obtained hard-alloys with 2.0wt%Ru addition is mainly inter-granular of WC grains,while that of the samples without or with less Ru addition is trans-granular.
