The Application of Ramon Electromagnetic Acoustic Technology in Metallurgical Industry

  Electromagnetic Acoustic(Abbreviation EMAT)is a new technology in nondestructive testing field,which adopts the method of electromagnetic coupling to motivate and receive ultrasonic wave.Compared with the traditional piezoelectric ultrasonic technology,electromagnetic Acoustic technology has the advantages that non-contact,no needing coupling agent,fast detection speed,high precision,and various modes of ultrasonic waves are easily to be motivated,and non conducting materials such as surface paint does not affect the detection and etc on.This technology has unique advantages when is applied under the conditions of high temperature,fast speed and in the severe metallurgical environment.In this paper,electromagnetic acoustic technology is applied in the fields of solidification end detection of continuous casting,automatic steel plate flaw detection and thickness measurement of high temperature steel tube and etc on.
