Study on Factors Affecting Titanium Yield of Stainless Steel Containing Titanium in Refining and Continuous Casting Processes
Based on the production practice of SUH409L,the factors that affect the titanium yield of stainless steel containing titanium during refining and continuous casting processes were investigated in this paper. The results indicated that the loss of titanium in steel was increased with the increasing of weak-oxidative components in the slag. When the aluminum in steel was 0.025-0.03%,the oxidizability of molten slag was decreased and the loss of titanium was reduced. As a result of higher SiO2 contents in the covering flux with lower bacisity, the reaction between the titanium in steel and the SiO2 in covering flux caused the decrease of titanium content. The loss of titanium could be brought down by using the higher basic covering flux.According to the thermodynamics calculation, the Ti containing steel can react with the oxygen in the air by thermodynamics calculation. Thus, the titanium yield could be raised by applying a better protective casting.
