On the Influence of Social Networking Service on Social Conflicts in China in the Era of We Media

  Social networking service (SNS) is a typical example of we media apart from Microblog.From early forms such as email and BBS to todays mature social platforms such as FaceBook, Renren, Kaixin and Qzone, SNS successfully integrates instant messaging with Blog and promotes the integrity of individual nodes in information release.Studies in this field involve comparative study, characteristics of SNS, and the competitive and cooperative relationships between SNS and traditional network media.This paper analyzes the influence of SNS on social conflicts and discusses the positive role of SNS in buffering network group polarization and the increasing influence of network public opinions on social conflicts with significant reduction of information transmission cost.Due to low-quality information, shallow opinions, rumors, superstition, pornography, violent information, unrestricted reveal of the dark side of society, and emotional vent in network public opinions, SNS can promotes social conflicts.In this context, the government and citizens shall promote their network morality, guide network public opinions reasonably, and achieve the healthy development of SNS together.
