The Global and Local Roles of Non-governmental Organizations in Resolving Public Problems
The questions we are trying to answer are what roles have NGOs played in globalization and What are globalization effects on NGOs. The first section of our article explains the reasons for the rapid growth of the NGOs in the world; the second section explores how NGOs attempt to influence the governments decisions on various issues. The third section reports Case studies - local and global NGOs. Our conclusions are as follow: the relationship between, government, academia, business and community does not have to be adversarial but they can cooperate for the benefit of the whole community. With the trend of global governance, NGOs face more and more big issues, which in turn requires NGOs to improve themselves to be more efficient in resolving global and local problems, and to make the world better.
