A Comparative Study on the Transformation of Resource-based Cities between China and Abroad

摘要：

Transformation of the resource-based cities constitutes an important part of Chinas economic structure optimization and upgrading. While formulating the concrete plan of the transformation of resource-based cities, developed countries successful experiences in this transformation have been referred to. The transformation experience of the Germany Ruhr coal mining cities, in particular, is widely referred to. However, it should be fully aware that great differences could be found in terms of the accurate exhaustion of resource-based cities between China and developed countries, regional economic contribution of the mining industry, concerns of the urban transformation, and urban function positioning. It is of vital importance to view objectively the value of developed countries experience in transformation and to identify an alternative approach for the transformation of Chinese resource-based cities, so as to provide some references for the transformation of Chinese resource-based cities.
