Effect of heat treatment on microwave absorbing properties of Ni0.5Zn0.4Mg0.1La0.01Fei1.99O4 ferrite
Spinel structure Ni0.5Zn0.4Mg0.1La0.01Fe1.99O4 ferrite has been prepared by sol-gel route and investigated as a radar absorbing material (RAM). The ferrite exhibits a single-spinel structure. The average crystallite sizes of the ferrite are in the range of 20-26nm. The microwave-absorbing properties are studied as a function of frequency, annealing temperature, and thickness of absorber. The reflection loss varies with the change of annealing temperature by calculating the microwave absorption as a single-layer absorber. The ferrite annealed at 850℃ shows minimum reflection loss. The results indicate that Ni0.5Zn0.4Mg0.1La0.01Fe1.99O4 ferrite annealed at 850C is suitable for microwave absorbing materials.
