Influence of heat treatment on low-cycle fatigue behavior of extruded Al-4Cu-1Mg-Gd aluminum alloy
Low-cycle fatigue behaviors of extruded Al-4Cu-1Mg-2Gd aluminum alloy with different treated states were performed under total strain amplitude controlled mode. The experimental results show that the alloy subjected to solution plus aging treatment exhibits the cyclic strain hardening and stability, while as-extruded alloy shows the cyclic strain hardening. The solution plus aging treatment can increase the cyclic stress amplitude of the alloy, but decrease the fatigue life of the alloy. It is also noted that the solution plus aging treatment can considerably change the strain fatigue parameters of extruded Al-4Cu-1 Mg-2Gd alloy.
